I'm a happy artist working in my sunny California studio. It's just me – I make the art, market the art, and teach art classes. As a "solopreneur" I wear all the hats! I'm always busy and I love it.
My medium is cyanotype – a historical photographic process – and I'm pretty obsessed with it! Prints are usually deep Prussian blue. I print with foraged plant materials outdoors in the sun.
I have a nerdy side. I love experimentation and creative problem solving. Trying out new materials, working through logistical challenges, and coming up with my own techniques is so much fun.
Some other things I love: lists, nature, shadows, blue-green, reflections, chambray shirts, birds, coffee ice cream, cobalt glass, working with clay, corny puns...
I've always enjoyed making things and art has been my passion for a long, long time. In college I studied Art at Chico State and received a BA. After graduation I stayed in Chico and studied graphic design. I also hold a master’s degree in the Arts in Education.
I enjoyed a wonderful career in printing, graphic design, and illustration, (career #1) but after 20 years I was ready for a change. In 1998 I went back to school for a teaching credential and began sharing my artistic passion with students. (That was career #2!)
Now, as an artist, art educator, and entrepreneur (career #3) I get to use all of my varied career experiences and I couldn't be happier!
I share my work at shows, studio events, and online (especially Instagram!) I teach small groups in my Sacramento studio or around the country. Subscribe to my newsletter to see what I'm up to!
