In my sunny California studio it's just me – I make the art, market the art, and teach art classes. As a busy "solopreneur" I wear all the hats and I love it.
Cyanotype printing (aka sunprinting) is my primary medium and I'm pretty obsessed with it. I print using plant materials and light sensitive chemicals outdoors in the sun. Collage, watercolor, and drawing enhance these original prints. Experimentation and problem solving are a big part of my creative process. I’m always trying out new materials and coming up with my own techniques. The possibilities are endless!
Art has been my lifelong passion. I studied drawing and painting at Chico State and received a BA in Art. After graduation, I continued taking courses in graphic design. I also hold a master’s degree in the Arts in Education from Sacramento State University.
After 20 wonderful years in printing, graphic design and illustration, (career #1) I was ready for a change. In 1998 I earned a teaching credential and began sharing my artistic passion with elementary school students. (That was career #2!)
Now, as an artist, art educator, and creative entrepreneur (career #3) I use all of these experiences and I couldn't be happier! I share my work at shows, studio events, and on social media. I teach small groups in my Sacramento studio and at other arts venues around the country. Subscribe to my newsletter to see what I'm up to!
