FIELD NOTES

Arthouse
1021 R Street, Sacramento, CA
July 8 - August 7, 2023
Opening July 8, 6 - 9 pm, Artist’s Talk 7 pm

A good walk calms and grounds me. On my walks, I hunt for treasure – stray feathers, rusty junk, intriguing seed pods, twigs and leaves. These items find their way back to my studio and into my work. Their harmonious colors and patterns inspired the textile pieces in Field Notes. I’ve hand-printed or dyed each of them using cyanotype, ecoprint, rust, and tea. Then they were lovingly stitched together into richly colored, quilt-inspired compositions.

Visit the show at Arthouse and feel calmed and restored by nature!

summer reading at the Pence

Pence Art Gallery
212 D Street, Davis, CA 95616
June 1 - July 16, 2021

Is there anything as relaxing as reading on a summer afternoon? Sitting in the shade of a tree or poolside, completely absorbed in a good book is a summer delight! This tranquil escape, surrounded by summer’s lush green growth, inspired my altered book series of cyanotypes.

Each print in this show is a one-of-a-kind original, exposed outdoors in the sun using plants gathered from my neighborhood. I used upcycled vintage book covers to mount the prints, giving the books new life. I added collaged text from novels and textbooks to embellish the edges. Several of the titles in this show are taken from the actual book covers!
