Both Beautiful & Broken is filled with treasures I’ve gathered from my garden, neighborhood walks, and friends. The title refers to the butterfly print — even though it’s imperfect, it’s still a beautiful symbol of hope and transformation.

Many types of textile prints are combined in this piece. Images of leaves, lace, field guide text, and abstract script are visual notations of things I’ve found or seen. There are hand-printed fabrics in shades of Prussian blue, teal, deep green, rust and gold. The way these prints work together and play off each other keeps Both Beautiful & Broken unified and exciting!

Medium: hand-printed textiles including: cyanotype, wet cyanotype, ecoprints, rust prints, and Solarfast on upcycled fabrics. Linen/cotton borders are neatly stretched over a sturdy wood and canvas frame.

Size: 36” x 18” x 1.5”

Framing/display: This piece does not need framing. The deep profile, linen-wrapped support frame is sturdy, light weight and sophisticated in appearance. “Both Beautiful & Broken” is ready to hang with finger-friendly Softstrand coated picture wire and supplied hanging hardware.
