There’s something so rich about this combination of textures and colors, and some of it was unexpected! Mysteriously, the blue leaves in the center turned quite dark and their veins showed through clearly. A happy accident, perhaps caused by the rayon fabric.

The title refers to the iron based chemistry that’s the basis for the cyanotype process and to the wine colored accent fabrics surrounding them. (Oh yeah, there’s that band I like, too.)

Medium: hand-printed textiles including: cyanotype, wet cyanotype, tea-toning, and ice dye on upcycled fabrics. Linen/cotton borders are neatly stretched over a sturdy wood and canvas frame.

Framing/display: This piece does not need framing. The deep profile, linen-wrapped support frame is sturdy, light weight and sophisticated in appearance. “It’s ready to hang with finger-friendly Softstrand coated picture wire and supplied hanging hardware.
