field notes 2
About this piece, Field Notes 2: A botanical illustration and text create the focal point in this piece. Other fabrics used include: cyanotypes, thrifted and store-bought scraps, and a sweet yellow floral that came from my mother’s sewing supplies! The design is loosely based on the traditional “log cabin” quilt block with the yellow “hearth” in the middle.
About the Field Notes series: These quilt-inspired “minis” were studies for the collection that I began in 2022. I was able to try out color combinations, stitching techniques, and composition and framing ideas on a small scale. These gems turned out to be some of my favorites in the collection! They’d look beautiful on a wall, in a grouping, or displayed on a shelf.
