About this piece, Field Notes 10: This piece began as a drawing of some roadside weeds during last year’s “100 day project”. I never finished my 100 drawings, but this design element has shown up in ceramics and cyanotypes many times! Paired with tangy yellow stripes and bits of rust and orange, this mini quilt block sparkles with energy!

About the Field Notes series: These quilt-inspired “minis” were studies for the collection that I began in 2022. I was able to try out color combinations, stitching techniques, and composition and framing ideas on a small scale. These gems turned out to be some of my favorites in the collection! They’d look beautiful on a wall, in a grouping, or displayed on a shelf.

Medium: Hand-printed textiles including cyanotypes and decolorant on upcycled natural fabrics. Natural linen/cotton borders. Mounted on archival 300# watercolor paper.

Size: 8” x 8”

Frame: Framed in white shadowbox frame with glass, 8.75” x 8.75” x 1.125”. Ready to hang. Signed and dated on the back.
