About this piece, Field Notes 11: Abstract and energetic, this scrappy little composition in muted primary colors just makes me happy! It combines some of my favorite fabric experiments: the large dots were swirled Solarfast dyes and for the yellow stripes/dots I used decolorant. There’s a couple of cyanotypes hiding in there too!
About the Field Notes series: These quilt-inspired “minis” were studies for the collection that I began in 2022. I was able to try out color combinations, stitching techniques, and composition and framing ideas on a small scale. These gems turned out to be some of my favorites in the collection! They’d look beautiful on a wall, in a grouping, or displayed on a shelf.
