The doughnut – that’s what I call this round arch! It’s an impressive chunk of rock! Below it, a minus tide has exposed tide pools along the beach. The day I sketched this, beachcombers (the size of ants!) wandered the shore, looking for treasures. Brilliant blue water reflects a clear sky, but in the distance you can see clouds above the coastal range.

Sketched with a dark pencil over a base layer of collaged paper, medical tape and gesso. Splashy watercolors and colored pencil shading bring the scene to life.

Medium: Watercolor, collage, pencil and colored pencil on 300# Fabriano cold press watercolor paper.

Size: artwork is 3” x 3”, frame is 6.75” x 6.75” x 0.75”

Framing/display: This original piece is double matted with white archival mat board, protected under glass, and framed in white. It’s delicately “floated” above the background to highlight the round corners and edges. Initialed on the front and signed and dated on the back. Ready to hang or display on a small easel.
