inlet 1
The air feels misty and there’s a pale gray sky above the distant Pacific. There’s always moisture in the air in Mendocino! It brings brilliant green life to the cliff tops of the Headlands. Wild radishes, ice plant, mustard, blackberry vines, and many other plants crowd the cliffs and cling to the rock as they tumble over the edges. A windblown cypress stands alone on the cliff and across the inlet, a rock cove is visible.
The collage layer of this piece includes torn paper strips and a bit of a map, barely visible beneath the cypress. Loose black pencil work and watercolor complete the scene.
