At Mendocino Headlands State Park there are miles of trails leading to incredible views of the sea, but the park road curving around the corner caught my eye one afternoon. As the fog rolled in, brilliant yellow mustard blossoms along the roadside glowed fluorescent! In the distance, weathered fence posts and dark cypresses being swallowed by mist created a pathway for my eye.

Look for handwritten color notes and a collaged piece of a French workbook under the paint and pencil.
