About this piece, Mend 4: This collage is one of a kind because of its unusual color palette. Lemony yellows paired with turquoise, teal, and black create exciting contrasts. There’s a lot of movement in the sweep of the yellow botanical print and painted brush marks. A brilliant rust-stained rectangle adds another pop of color.

About the Mend series: These collages were studies for Mend. I was able to try out color combinations, cutting and gluing techniques, and composition ideas on a smaller scale. These gems turned out to be some of my favorites in the collection! They’d look beautiful on a wall, in a grouping, or displayed on a shelf.
